Total Flex Gym Helping Out Government Workers With No Pay
The owner of Total Flex Gym in Waukesha wants people to have a place where they can work out - even through the government shutdown.

WAUKESHA, WI -- On Friday, President Donald Trump agreed to re-open the Federal Government for a period of three weeks, temporarily ending the longest shutdown in U.S. history at five weeks.
If the U.S. heads for another shutdown in early February, James Newman, owner of Waukesha's Total Flex Gym, said he's going to continue to offer free gym memberships to government employees while they're working without pay.
"Rather this time period be one month, three months, or an entire year, if they are without pay, they have a place to work out. We are willing to work with the community as best as we possibly can to help make their rough times easier," Newman told Patch.

Newman also says the popular Waukesha gym also offers discounted rates to all Police, Fire, Military, Veterans, and Nurses.
"In our future, we plan to hold fundraisers, food, and clothing drives to help as many people as we can. We are building a Family at Total Flex Gym. This 'gym' is a place for all to call home, not just be a place to go workout where you don't know anyone," Newman told Patch.

Newman, who enlisted in the U.S. Navy after high school, cites his military experience as a way to connect with those who are currently struggling.
"Now as a Veteran who has been in their shoes, I know exactly what it is like to struggle with all types of issues and situations day in and day out. We don't have enough people who are willing to help those in need, so this has become my Mission," he told Patch. "I will personally help all who I can in any way that I can."
"I also have a Family relying on me, we can not work without pay. Our bills don't stop just because the checks do," he said.
