Waukesha Celebrates Oktoberfest, 125-Minute Run

This Saturday, try your hand at running, drinking beer, or holding a full heavy beer stein in two city events at Frame Park.

WAUKESHA, WI β€” If you’re interested in Waukesha’s two major events this Saturday, it’s recommended you do the 125-minute run before partaking in Oktoberfest festivities. Although everyone’s different.

From Friday evening through Saturday, Waukesha is welcoming the fall with a big party. The first event is its fifth annual Oktoberfest celebration, which will bring a beer garden, statues, contests, music, and more to Frame Park.

The event will kick off Friday at 5 p.m., with a live beer garden and music from the 484th Army Band of Milwaukee and Copper Box. At 7:30 p.m. Waukeshans can try their hand at a β€œMaaskrugstemmen” contest, the German word for a beer stein holding contest.

Saturday will feature music by the Squeezettes and Blaskapelle Milwaukee. From 2 to 4, the family area will feature games, crafts, and more. From 1 to 6, there will be a bag tossing contest, and at 2 p.m., Mayor Reilly and Mama Ducky’s Desserts will unveil their Oktoberfest-themed cake, and will provide free slices to the first 400 people.

Food and beverage tickets can be purchased in advance for $20, $40, and $60, although the event itself is free. Visitors also have the option to reserve a table, which costs $200 per day, and includes $200 in tickets. Tables can have a maximum of eight people. Tables must be reserved by midnight Wednesday.

No dogs or carry-in alcohol are permitted in the park. You can also volunteer to help at the event here.

If your beer is fully digested by Saturday morning, try your hand at the 125 minute run. As part of a series of events celebrating the city’s 125th anniversary, the 10 a.m. run invites participants to see how many times they can loop around Frame Park in 125 minutes. The race costs $35 and $4.20 to sign up, but increases to $45 after Friday at 11:59 p.m. Participants can also take place in a 125-minute virtual run for $30.
