Qualifying Fees Set In Roswell Elections

ROSWELL, GA -- If you're looking to run for a seat on the Roswell City Council, you now know how much it will cost you to formally declare your intentions.

The City Council at its Monday, Dec. 12 meeting approved qualifying fees for its March 21 special election to fill the vacant Post 4 seat as well as its Nov. 7, 2017, general municipal election.

The fee to qualify for the Post 4 seat is $540. Qualifying for the post will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 to Friday, Jan. 27 in the office of the city clerk at Roswell City Hall.

For the Nov. 7 election, qualifying for the Council seats will also be $540 while the office of mayor qualification fee has been set at $1,200. Qualifying period for the general election will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28 to Friday, Sept. 2 in the office of the city clerk.

The Post 4 seat became vacant when Kent Igleheart resigned following his arrest on child sex charges. Two candidates have already announced their bids for the seat: Jay Small and Lori Henry.

Along with Mayor Jere Wood, Post 5 Councilman Jerry Orlans and Post 6 Council member Nancy Diamond are up for re-election. The winner of the Post 4 special election, who would serve out Igleheart's unexpired term that ends Dec. 31, 2017, will also be up for the election.
