Small said his vision for Roswell "is one of unity."

“Roswell must bridge the gap between the historical past and attributes of our city with its recent growth while realizing our current situation and place in the North Fulton County community and beyond," he said. "I believe in a connected city, one that connects neighborhoods by trails, sidewalks, and multi-use paths."

Small's vision for Roswell is also grounded in the belief that parks and green spaces are crucial to not only the city's identity, but to its future. With that in mind, the candidate said he'd like to see projects focusing on that subject come to fruition in the coming years.

Those projects include the River Parks Master Plan, preserving areas around existing parks, starting and completing the City Green project and connecting all our neighborhoods to local parks and green spaces.

Small is also calling for the city to address development and redevelopment, commercial corridors and create policies that respect its history and neighborhoods.

Small has volunteered aroundRoswell in various capacities. Over the last six years, he's served as president of Barrington Farms Homeowners Association, president of Friends of the Roswell Parks, treasurer of the Northwood Elementary School Foundation, member of Northwood's School Governance Council and a member of the Roswell Recreation Commission.

The candidate grew up in Indiana and received his degree from Indiana University in general studies for math and science.

For the past 16 years, he's worked for Compass Group, a food services contract company where he currently serves as director of internal audit.

Small and his husband, Neil, have lived in Roswell for 13 years and they have a 7-year-old son, Anderson.
