NJ Pizzeria Lands On Food And Wine Magazine List Of '9 Hottest New Pizzerias'
Only one New Jersey pizza spot made the cut when Food & Wine Magazine announced its nine "Hottest New Pizzerias" Wednesday.

A pizzeria in New Jersey's second largest city was named last week to a list of "9 Hottest New Pizzerias In The US."
Food and Wine Magazine cited One World Pizza in Jersey City as one of the best. It was the only New Jersey pizzeria on the list.

The spot was opened in 2024 on Baldwin Avenue by the same owners as Cafe Alyce, which is next door.

Food and Wine noted the restaurant's "14 internationally influenced pizzas" with ingredients like Korean bulgogi and Jamaican jerk brisket.
The eatery soft opened in October 2024 on the city's west side, an area three miles from the more restaurant-heavy waterfront.

"We're proud to be the only Jersey spot on the list," Tory Aunspach, the owner, told Patch, "and especially proud to represent McGinley Square and Jersey City. This neighborhood has been good to us across all three of our concepts, and we're not going anywhere."
He noted that the restaurant uses toppings like kimchi cream, Mexican elote, North African harissa lamb, and Indian makhani.
"The OWP concept centers on a single thesis," he said. "Today, pizza is a global cuisine, not just an Italian one."
The article was not the first one to heap national attention on a Jersey City-based pizzeria. In 2017, the New York Times famously asked, "Is New York's Best Pizza in New Jersey?" in a piece about Razza Pizza and chef Dan Richter. Razza has since been named in numerous lists, and last year, Richter became a James Beard Semifinalist.
And five years ago, Food and Wine Magazine named Jersey City to its list of 11 "Next Great Foodie Cities."
But not to worry — New York City also was represented on the list too, with three entries.
The Other Eight
The other restaurants making the cut were:
- Five Dreams Pizzeria y Antojitos (New York City)
- The Salmonberry (Portland, Oregon)
- Desi Boys (Chicago)
- Frico on 2nd (New York City)
- Da Legna at Nolo (New Haven, Conn.)
- Zarella (Chicago)
- Francesco Martucci (Miami)
- Pizza Studio Tamaki (New York City)
Food and Wine noted the cultural diversity among modern pizzerias.
"In the hands of ambitious, innovative pizza makers across the country, the format continues to evolve," they wrote.
