Another 'Random Shooting' Reported In Metro Area

Bullets hit a car in Homewood Wednesday in what could be linked to a spree of random shootings in the metro area recently.

HOMEWOOD, AL - A car traveling near I-65 in the Homewood area Wednesday was hit by gunfire from a car that pulled up beside the victims on Lakeshore Boulevard. No one was injured in the incident, but one victim reported that her jacked was pierced by a bullet.

A report by Alabama Media Group said a vehicle with three people inside was traveling on Lakeshore Boulevard and turning left onto I-65. As they were on the ramp leading to the interstate, they noticed a vehicle behind them that pulled alongside them and fired three rounds into the BMW.

Homewood detectives are in contact with Birmingham police and Jefferson County’s Metro Area Crime Center to see if there is any possible link to two similar shootings one week ago that killed a Birmingham man in one incident and grazed a 14-year-old girl in a separate incident.
