Shooting On Old Springville Road Under Investigation
A 14-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet while sitting in the passenger seat of a car at a Center Point stoplight.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are conducting a shooting investigation after a 14-year-old passenger in a vehicle was grazed by a shot fired into the car in which she was traveling early Thursday morning.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, just after midnight deputies were called to an apartment in the 1100 block of Spring Villa Circle to investigate a shooting complaint. It was reported that a 40-year-old woman and her three children were stopped at a traffic light at Old Springville Road and Brewster Road when a dark-colored four-door sedan stopped behind them. Someone in that car fired two shots which struck the victim’s car.
A projectile passed through the rear door grazing her 14-year-old daughter. The projectile was slowed by the car door and the child’s injuries consisted of only bruising and abrasions. She was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. Sheriff’s detectives are evaluating any links to a similar shooting in the city of Birmingham that resulted in a homicide.
