Hurricane Michael; New Info In Roebuck Murder: Week In News

In addition to the Category 4 storm that swept through Alabama, several other stories made headlines in the Birmingham metro this week.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - While the Birmingham metro area received minimal effects from Hurricane Michael last week, the state definitely felt the wrath of the Category 4 storm, as nearly 80,000 people in the state were left without power by the time the storm traveled into Georgia. But Michael was not the only headline grabber this past week, as new information surfaced in the high-profile double murder in Roebuck from August, and an Auburn University football great made his return to the state.

More than 12,000 homes and businesses have lost power in southern Alabama following the havoc Hurricane Michael unloaded on the panhandle last week.

Altercation At Gardendale High School Prompts Investigation

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating an altercation at Gardendale High School between a male student and female student that resulted in the female being injured. Both students are 16 years old.

Roebuck Double Murder: New Details Revealed In Case

New details have surfaced in a gruesome double murder in Roebuck the afternoon of Aug. 2. The death of Mary and Steve Holt has resulted in the arrest of a couple found in south Florida and recently extradited to Birmingham. Police say the couple's 3-year-old granddaughter was tied up while Zachary Phillips and Kristen Gullion stabbed the Holts to death.

Carnell "Cadillac" Williams Joins Birmingham Iron Staff

Birmingham's new Alliance of American Football team will have a local star on its coaching staff for its inaugural season. Former Auburn University great and 2005 NFL Rookie of the Year Carnell "Cadillac" Williams has been hired by the Birmingham Iron to coach the team's running backs.

Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested By Hoover PD

A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse First Degree after police say he groped a female customer at an e-cigarette store in Hoover. The suspect, Rashad M. Almuradi, reportedly worked at the store.
