BIRMINGHAM, AL — Two people accused of kidnapping 3-year-old Kamille McKinney in October of 2019 were indicted by a Grand Jury Wednesday. Separate indictments filed in U.S. District Court charge Patrick Devone Stallworth and Derick Irisha Brown each with one count of kidnapping and one count of conspiracy to kidnap a minor victim.

Kamille was found dead October 22, 10 days after she was reported missing from a birthday party in the Tom Brown Village housing community in Avondale.

If proven that Kamille's death resulted from the charges alleged in the indictments, Stallworth and Brown would face a minimum sentence of life in prison, or death.

Stallworth and Brown were the original people of interest in the case. Stallworth, who was arrested shortly after the abduction, was charged with possession of child pornography and possession with intent to distribute child pornography. The images were discovered on his phone during the ongoing investigation into the abduction.

An autopsy conducted in December revealed Kamille had methamphetamine and Trazodone, an anti-depressant used to treat insomnia, in her body at the time of her death.

Stallworth has maintained his innocence, and has said Brown is the defendant guilty of kidnapping and killing Kamille, while Brown has said the opposite. Reports say Brown led police to Kamille's body.
