🌱 Alabama Schools To Lose Funding + SEC Baseball Tournament
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Hoover.
Hi all! I'm here with your fresh copy of the Hoover Daily, filled with all the community news you need to know right now. Here's the lowdown.
First, today's weather:
Mostly cloudy and humid. High: 89 Low: 71.
Here are the top 3 stories today in Hoover:
- Fewer teachers across many Alabama school districts will no longer be funded through the state's main source of funding for most districts: the Foundation Program. This lack of funding is a result of the drops in public school enrollment since the start of the pandemic, and it may include some job cuts in the future. Many teachers have learned in recent days and weeks that they will not return next year, and the decisions as to how schools and districts will make those cuts are ongoing. (AL.com)
- According to SEC commissioner Greg Sankey, the SEC has reached an agreement in principle for the SEC baseball tournament to remain in Hoover for the next two years. Once it is finalized with the city, the deal will keep the SEC baseball tournament at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium until at least 2024. The SEC has played its baseball tournament in Hoover since 1998, while many other cities have made bids over the years to host the popular event. (AL.com)
- The Summer heat may turn a wildflower hike into a sauna, but there are plenty of natural phenomena to make working up a sweat worthwhile. The Aldridge Gardens in Hoover are one such place to admire natural phenomena, hosting more than 50 varieties of hydrangeas. A wildflower garden in the back grows sunflowers, Joe Pye weed, ironweed, and other colorful native species. (Alabama NewsCenter)
