Pair Accused In Hoover Academy Sports Shoplifting Case Arrested
Public assistance helped Hoover police locate a pair from Pell City accused of stealing more than $3,000 in merchandise from Academy Sports.
HOOVER, AL — Hoover police received some help from the public in locating and arresting two people accused of shoplifting at a Hoover Academy Sports store in August. Police posted security photos of a man and woman wanted in connection to the theft, which occurred August 9, and rips from the public helped police make the arrests, according to the Hoover Police Department.
Police say Stevie DeWayne Winstied and Tiffany Annette Cline — both of Pell City — entered the Academy Sports store on Highway 150 and left with more than $3,000 worth of merchandise without paying.
Cline was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail August 10 at 7:06 p.m. and bonded out at 9:55 p.m. Winstied was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail August 28 at 10:21 p.m., and bonded out August 29 at 10:15 a.m., jail records show.
