1. ALDOT announces nightly closures of I-459 entrance, exit ramps as part of ongoing resurfacing project (wbrc.com) — If you drive I-459 through Hoover, expect nightly ramp closures between Exits 10 and 13 from September 27 through October 1, with more rounds planned October 4–7 and 8–14. Ramps will be shut 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for resurfacing work, and ALDOT suggests using SR-150 between US-31 and Exit 10 as an alternate route.
   

2. Hoover City Council to consider 2027 budget on Monday, Sept. 28 (hooversun.com) — Hoover's 2027 city budget, including raises for employees and major spending on garbage service, roads, drainage, and public safety, goes before the City Council Monday night. Council members will also vote on allowing certain novelty fireworks, reallocating drainage funds, and appointing residents to the Medical Clinic Board at the 6 p.m. meeting at City Hall.
   

3. Homewood BBQ spot improves as 5 other eateries fall below health standards (wbrc.com) — Jefferson County health inspectors recently gave an 80 to the Jimmy John's on Chase Circle in Hoover, citing missing food safety training, a lack of a written health policy, and sanitation issues. Several other Jefferson County stores also scored below 85, while a Homewood barbecue spot improved to a 97 after correcting earlier violations.
   

4. Local health experts to go door to door and survey Birmingham area (wvtm13.com) — Jefferson County health workers will be knocking on doors in Hoover and nearby cities September 30–October 1 to ask adults about local health needs and services. Staff will wear JCDH shirts and photo IDs, and the voluntary survey takes about 25–30 minutes. Your feedback will help shape how the health department improves programs in Hoover and across the county.
