Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- The US Space & Rocket Center has unveiled their newest exhibit! It is for Blue Origin’s Mannequin Skywalker, a “test dummy” that has made multiple trips to space! (Yellowhammer News)
- Buc-ee’s is coming to Athens! They have announced that they’ll officially break ground November 17. The location will be off of 65 on Huntsville Brownsferry Rd. I don't know about you, but I am so ready to be able to get some Beaver Nuggets closer to home! (Spot on Alabama)
- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell paid a visit to Athens over the weekend. McConnell spent most of his childhood in the city and checked out his old elementary school and home, and the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives. (WHNT)
- Sudanese-American spent Saturday in downtown Huntsville. Their goal was to get together to promote and hope for peace in Sudan. However, they also believe that it is partially on other communities, like Huntsville, to help other areas of the world. (WHNT)
- After the city’s finance director, Penny Smith, presented a proposal on how to spend the American Rescue Plan Act money (read more here), the City Council still has to make a decision before November 4. According to Smith, a decision will be made before the next regularly scheduled meeting, which happens to also be November 4. (Patch)
