Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. The Huntsville City Council unanimously approved the $245 million budget. I mentioned more of what this budget will include in Saturday’s update, so you can check that out here. (WAAY)
  2. The Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (F.A.M.E.) applications have opened! This program is through Calhoun and gives participants workforce training! (WZDX)
  3. Starting next week, during week-long breaks during the Huntsville City School year, Huntsville Parks & Recreation is holding day camps! These camps are open to K-6 and go from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. (Patch)
  4. Still Serving Veterans, the Huntsville-based nonprofit that helps veterans find employment and get access to Veteran Affairs, lost one of their founders, Rebecca Pillsbury. She was 69, and passed on Sunday. Her family asked that donations be made to Still Serving Veterans. (WHNT)
  5. Work is going to start soon on the new city hall in Huntsville. First, the old parking garage will be torn down. This will be a long and messy process that will cost $80 million. (AL.com)
