Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:
- The investigation into a man, Gregory Martin Hill, hitting a Decatur police officer in front of his home has shown probable cause for the charges to be increased to attempted murder. His bail has now been set at $1,000,000 cash. You can check out my original mention of the incident here. (Decatur Police Department Alabama via Facebook)
- According to WHNT, this is turning out to be the fourth-driest summer on record for Madison County. The total rainfall is 5.49 inches, which is 5.07 inches below the average for the summer. August, however, has seen higher-than-average rainfall. WHNT uses June, July, and August to measure summer rainfall and other climate recording purposes. (WHNT News 19)
- Construction has started on a $52 million mixed-use development at Cummings Research Park. The Arcadia will be on the corner of Bradford Drive and Wynn Drive across the street from the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering, and will feature retail and restaurant space as well as apartments and offices. (Bama Buzz)
- The Crush Wine and Food Festival will be back in the Rocket City September 19-25! This will be the eighth year for the event to be held downtown. (WAFF)
