Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:

  1. The 2022 Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival featured a documentary about Africatown. The Netflix documentary shared stories and community history about the descendants of Clotilda. Former President Barack Obama attended the festival. According to Joycelyn Davis, a direct descendant of Charlie Lewis Veta Tunstall who was a part of the Clotilda story, there will be a screening of the film in Mobile before it is featured on Netflix.   2. COVID-19 cases fell this last week in Mobile County. According to the state's latest COVID-19 report, Mobile County had 903 cases last week.   3. The Mobile Police Department has identified the individuals that were discovered on Sunday morning with gunshot wounds and burns. Laquisha Towner, 33, and Derrick Rembert, 48, were found in the 2000 block of Osage Street. The case is still under investigation and it is unclear whether the individuals ultimately died as a result of a shooting or a fire. (WKRG News 5)
