• 'Mobtown Mural' and 'Son of a Sailor' festivals hit Downtown Mobile (wkrg.com) — Downtown Mobile is hosting two big celebrations today, with muralists painting live around Cedar Street Social Club and Parrot Heads packing the Son of a Sailor Festival. You can still catch artists finishing marine-themed murals and enjoy live bands honoring Jimmy Buffett's Gulf Coast legacy, all centered in Mobile's walkable downtown streets.
   

• Mobile man accused of shooting cop offers unusual defense (fox10tv.com) — A Mobile man accused of shooting a police officer on Tuscaloosa Street is pursuing an unusual insanity defense, blaming toxic mold for psychosis-like symptoms. A Mobile County judge has ordered mental evaluations for him and his common-law wife as prosecutors challenge the mold-related claims in a case closely watched by local law enforcement and neighbors.
   

• Baldwin man, accused of harassing family of high school quarterback who transferred to Saraland, testifies (fox10tv.com) — A civil trial in Mobile is examining whether a Baldwin County man defamed the family of former Saraland High quarterback KJ Lacey over his 2022 transfer from Daphne. Testimony this week detailed social media accusations, a private investigator's actions, and arguments over how the state athletic association handled eligibility. A Mobile judge will decide if Lacey's family is owed damages.
