(Patch Media)

Hello again, neighbors. It's Thursday in Mobile and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening locally. Hope you all have a great day. Here goes.

First, today's weather:

A stray afternoon t-storm. High: 91 Low: 79.

Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:

  1. Mobile's John Andrew Bazor Jr. has been charged with threatening to assassinate President Joe Biden. Bazor called the White House switchboard and made the threat on Jul. 10, according to the U.S. Secret Service. Bazor has exhibited signs of mental illness, according to the affidavit. His strange behavior has been verified by both his mother and aunt. (Fox 10 News)
  2. The Mobile City Council continues to debate the issue of annexation. The annexation proposal fell short three years ago by just one vote. The proposed annexation would expand the City of Mobile, counteracting the city's population decline. It would make the city the fourth largest in the state of Alabama. (Fox 10 News)
  3. Mobile Baykeeper has issued a Notice of Intent to Sue Alabama Power. The lawsuit is about the company's intent to permanently deposit 21 million tons of coal ash along the Mobile River. Mobile Baykeeper reports that the coal ash is polluting the Mobile River and Delta. (UTV 44)
