Here are the top stories in Mobile today:
- A Mobile County judge told former candidate Reggie Hill that he needs 'serious legal firepower' before challenging Mobile City Council election results. Judge Wesley Pipes told Hill that he did not have enough evidence to warrant a hearing and there would not be enough time to assemble a jury and hold a quick trial before the runoff election on Oct. 5. Hill, who was representing himself in court, finished fifth out of six candidates. (AL.com)
- Mobile City Council members Fred Richardson and Bess Rich have been pushing for library workers to be eligible to receive the same bonuses that essential city workers are receiving. The City Council voted against this resolution. It was pointed out that it is up to the library board to dispense the surplus funds in their budget and if they chose to distribute premium pay, the Council would not object. (NBC 15 WPMI)
- A giant alligator in Three Mile Creek has killed at least two dogs and some are worried people could get hurt. It is believed that the alligator floated up the river during Hurricane Ida. (FOX10 News)
- On Sept. 28, the Mobile County Health Department reported that there were more COVID-19 cases in schools without masking policies. (WKRG News 5)
- Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sept. 27 on the 300 block Of Weinacker Avenue. (Press Release Desk)
