Here are the top stories in Mobile today:

  1. Residents are invited to help paint the new "Welcome to Mobile" community mural today. The new mural will be painted at 714 Dauphin Street, known to many as the home of Moe's Original BBQ. No experience is necessary to help create this community mural, as it will be ‘paint by number." Designer Sarah Beth Bexley is a senior at McGill Toolen Catholic High School and has created the mural as part of her service project. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  2. An Alabama woman has filed suit claiming a hospital’s response to a cyberattack led to the death of her infant daughter. The lawsuit by Teiranni Kidd contends Springhill Medical Center in Mobile was deep in the midst of a ransomware attack when her child Nicko Silar was born. It says the resulting failure of electronic devices meant a doctor couldn’t properly monitor the child’s condition during delivery, resulting in brain injuries. The suit also says the hospital failed to disclose how badly the cyberattack had hampered its systems. (WTOK)
  3. COVID-19 cases are trending downward in Baldwin County, but health officials warn that could change, especially if people let their guard down too soon. (WKRG News 5)
  4. A 55-year-old Mobile woman was arrested early Friday morning on a domestic violence charge after dumping a pan of hot grease onto a male victim. (FOX10 News)
  5. A campaign flyer was mailed this week to houses in downtown Mobile asking voters to support City Council President Levon Manzie, who recently died. (AL.com)
