Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:
- An organization that creates VIP game-day experiences for seriously ill children will have a special guest at its next fundraiser. The Special Spectators Reese's Senior Bowl Fundraiser, taking place at Moe's Original BBQ today at 6:00 p.m., will feature Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre. Tickets for the downtown Mobile event are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. (WEAR)
- Mobile's first public meeting to discuss the city's redistricting quickly turned heated. Citizens spoke up to say they have been confused by the process, citing a lack of transparency and shared information. Final plans for redistricting must be submitted to the city council by Feb. 12, after which more public hearings will be held; the council has six months to vote on the issue. (WKRG News 5)
- A local man pleaded not guilty to murdering his stepfather, citing a "mental defect." 36-year-old Freddie Maxwell has been accused of stabbing and killing his stepfather, Omar Brown, on Senator Street last week. Maxwell has reportedly struggled with mental illness for years and has not been consistent in taking his medication. (FOX10 News)

- A Mobile sex offender has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for transporting a minor from Kentucky for the purpose of illicit sexual activity. 38-year-old Nathaniel Blancher was reportedly in an online relationship with a 14-year-old girl and was aware of her age. (WKRG News 5)
- Airbus & Lockheed Martin announced that the new LMXT refueling tankers for the U.S. Air Force will be built in Mobile. (Facebook)
