Good morning, people of Mobile! Sean Peek here with your brand-new issue of the Mobile Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and warmer. High: 60 Low: 42.

Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:

  1. A historic marker that was supposed to be erected at the intersection of Royal and Government Streets in Downtown Mobile will be moved. The marker will commemorate Richard Robertson, a 43-year-old Black man who was lynched in Mobile 113 years ago. Mayor Sandy Stimpson sent a statement objecting to this location and suggested what he recommends as safer locations. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  2. Winter weather has impacted downtown Mobile business owners as residents choose to stay indoors and avoid the cold. Many Mobile bars and restaurants are hoping that despite the winter weather, there will be a warm Mardi Gras. Always a big draw for the downtown area, Mardi Gras takes place on March 1 this year. (FOX10 News)
  3. After a yearlong investigation, on Tuesday morning the Mobile Police Department seized $10,000 worth of cocaine and three firearms in a raid. Officers went to a home at the 6200 block of Rester Road where they arrested 44-year-old Marcus Dryer. Dryer has a criminal history with several narcotics charges. (FOX10 News)
