- The Mobile Public Library is kicking off the celebration of its 120-year anniversary with "An Evening with Roy Hoffman." The program will feature local author Roy Hoffman as he presents his new novel, "The Promise of the Pelican" and signs copies. The event will take place next Tuesday, Apr. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the West Regional Library. (NBC 15 WPMI)
- Three schools in Mobile County closed on Thursday due to power outages caused by storms overnight Wednesday. Both Hankins Middle School and Burroughs Elementary School were closed for the duration of the day as crews worked to restore power. Calloway-Smith Middle School also closed on Thursday, sending students home after officials learned from Alabama Power that electricity would not be restored in time for classes. (Fox 10 News)
- The Mobile Probate Court is searching for poll workers to help fill vacancies at nearly 80 election sites across the county. Poll workers must meet a number of criteria including being a resident of Mobile County and being registered to vote. Training for poll workers will begin on Apr. 18, and compensation will be provided. (WKRG News 5)
