Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:

  1. The City of Mobile has announced through a social media post that it will begin cracking down on parking violations in the next few months. The city will reportedly begin working with the Mobile Police Department in immobilizing vehicles with outstanding parking fines. The city will begin booting vehicles with more than five unpaid parking tickets on June 1. (WKRG News 5)
  2. The US Navy Chief has criticized some littoral combat ships built in Mobile. Admiral Michael Gilday notified the House's Armed Services Committee that the ships could not perform their primary mission. Admiral Gilday has refused to spend more money on the ships. The Navy plans to retire nine ships that have been recently built, some with less than three years of service, due to performance issues. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  3. Mobile County Public Schools has launched a new hotline that provides positive messages from students. The hotline is meant to help those struggling with mental health issues - or those who just need a laugh. The hotline number is 251-221-RUOK. (WKRG News 5)
