1. Mobile's Homeless Outreach IDs now recognized by social security administration (fox10tv.com) — Mobile residents experiencing homelessness now have locally issued IDs that are officially recognized by the Social Security Administration, making it easier to access benefits, jobs, and housing. The Mobile Police Department's Homeless Outreach Team prints these IDs weekly at Waterfront Rescue Mission, MPD's Second Precinct in Tillman's Corner, and during outreach, and is working with state officials to expand recognition statewide.
   

2. Alabama lawmakers mostly silent on making police body camera footage public record (fox10tv.com) — Mobile residents are hearing little from state lawmakers on whether police body camera footage should be public record, even as Mobile's police chief says he'll stick with current state law keeping it secret. Only three of 140 legislators responded to a recent media inquiry, while some officials and transparency advocates argue public access is vital for accountability and trust.
   

3. Big Builds: Several major projects are taking place throughout Alabama (businessalabama.com) — Mobile's long-awaited Regions Arena is rising on the former Civic Center site, promising a 10,000-seat venue for concerts, sports, and especially Mardi Gras celebrations. Local project leaders say the nearly 300,000-square-foot arena's complex design and ice rink will support year-round entertainment, giving residents a new centerpiece for community events and fun downtown.
   

4. State senator from Baldwin proposes allowing Alabamians to claim tax credit for tolls (fox10tv.com) — Drivers in Mobile who expect to use the planned Mobile River bridge and new Bayway could eventually claim a state income tax credit for tolls under a proposal from Sen. Chris Elliott. The plan would refund Alabama residents for tolls paid with ALGO transponders, potentially easing costs for regular Mobile and Baldwin County commuters while still funding the project.
   

5. Delta And Airbus Showcase Opportunities For Women In Aviation (aero-news.net) — Mobile played host to 160 Atlanta-area students as Delta's WING Flight brought young women to the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility and Flight Works Alabama for hands-on exposure to aviation careers. The visit showcased Mobile's growing role in aircraft assembly and workforce development, giving students a close-up look at how jets are built and prepared for service.
