Federal judge reopens sentencing hearing of Mobile 'kingpin,' now accused of hiding assets (wbrc.com) — A major federal drug and fraud case tied to Mobile is back in court as a judge reopens sentencing to clarify how much property can be seized from a convicted "kingpin" and his wife. Prosecutors say recent jail calls suggest the couple is trying to hide assets instead of paying massive fines, restitution, and costs for their court-appointed lawyers.
   

3. The office highlights growing use of cryptocurrency in scams and says it has tools to trace those funds, encouraging anyone with suspicions to call quickly so investigators can act in time.

MCHD: Another sentinel chicken tests positive for West Nile Virus in Mobile County (wlox.com) — Mobile County health officials confirm additional sentinel chickens have tested positive for West Nile virus in several ZIP codes, including 36605, 36613, 36575, and 36587. Residents are urged to protect themselves from mosquito bites as Vector Services ramps up spraying, door-to-door surveys, and mosquito trapping and testing around affected areas.
