Here are the top three stories in Mobile today:

  1. The Mobile County Sheriff's Office was able to locate a fugitive, thanks to tips given by the community. Kenneth Lee Sikes was located by the department in a trailer on Eastland Road following numerous tips due to Sikes' Fugitive of the Week profile on WKRG. Sikes was fatally shot by officers after he lunged at deputies with a knife. (WKRG News 5)
  2. The City of Mobile will be joining the Southern Cities Economic Inclusion Initiative. Mobile will be one of sixteen Southern cities participating in the initiative that focuses on increasing economic inclusion for communities of color. The city received a $25,000 grant to work on different strategies to close equity gaps. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  3. The Mobile Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a missing woman. Eva May Walker, 81, went missing on Thursday in the 1000 block of Alba Street. She reportedly has dementia and has not been found as of Friday evening. Anyone with information about Walker should contact the department. (Fox 10 News)

  • Is your home strengthened in the event of a hurricane? Mobile County encourages residents to prepare their homes for high winds and loose debris during hurricanes. (Facebook)
  • The Mobile Fire-Rescue department shares a video unveiling its newest fleet additions. The department thanked Emergency Equipment Professionals for producing the new trucks and engines. (Facebook)
