Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:
- The suspect in a Theodore grocery shore shooting earlier this month is now on Mobile's Most Wanted list. 22-year-old Trenteon King is most recently accused of shooting two individuals at the M & M Food Mart at Highway 90; the two victims' injuries were non-life-threatening, according to the Mobile Police department. King was also charged with murder in the death of D'Anthony Means in 2016; however, a search warrant error made critical evidence in the case inadmissible in court. (WKRG News 5)
- A flight from Mobile this weekend marked a major accomplishment for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA): 200,000 shelter animals saved. Through the organization's Animal Relocation Program, the national and Mobile chapters of the ASPCA have transported 200,000 shelter pets in need since its 2014 launch. The milestone flight left from Mobile just after dawn on Saturday, landing in Massachusetts later that day. (WKRG News 5)
- In September 2020, Hurricane Sally wreaked havoc on Mobile's Bienville Square. Shortly after, a group of artists collected the fallen wood to make unique works of art. If you haven't already seen the results of the project, you still have time: the Fallen Bienville Oak Exhibition, which launched this month, will be on display through Mar. 31 at the Mobile Arts Council Gallery. According to woodturner Fred Retting, who contributed a piece to the exhibition, the Bienville wood was the hardest he's ever worked with. (U.S. News & World Report)
