- Alabama's movement to decriminalize cannabis has a bleak future during an election year, according to the sponsor of the bill. The Senate Judiciary Committee in Montgomery has approved of Sen. Bobby Singleton's bill that would add Alabama to the list of 27 states that have decriminalized the drug but the bill still faces the full Senate. The bill would decriminalize possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and would attribute a violation offense with a fine of up to $250 to the charge. (US News And World Report)
- Federal COVID-19 tests arrive in Montgomery mailboxes. President Biden's administration announced in Jan. that each household could order four at-home tests that would be delivered by the United States Postal Service. According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, the at-home tests are over 90 percent accurate at diagnosing the virus. (ABC 11 WTOK-TV)
- A Montgomery resident celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday. Martha McCall is the mother of six children and has over 130 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Family members recognize the life lessons that McCall has instilled in the family over the decades. (WSFA12 News)
