(shelbycountyreporter.com) — Pelham teens got an inside look at policing through the Pelham Police Department's first Youth Academy, which leaders hope to make an annual tradition. Over a week, 30 students trained with officers, tackled physical challenges, investigated a mock vehicle theft and presented their case in a simulated trial, while instructors identified emerging youth leaders from the Pelham community.
   

2. Liberty takes root in Pelham with dedication of America 250 ... (shelbycountyreporter.com) — Pelham has planted a new Liberty Tree at Pelham City Park, creating a permanent local symbol for the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary. City leaders, first responders and heritage groups joined residents for a dedication ceremony featuring speeches, a color presentation, music and a ceremonial backfilling of the Princeton elm, gifted to Pelham through Alabama's Legacy Liberty Tree Project.
   

3. Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest accepting entries for 2027 competition (gulfcoastmedia.com) — Pelham residents can currently view the 2026 Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest exhibit at the Oak Mountain State Park Interpretive Center in Pelham through Sept. 16. At the same time, the state is accepting entries from amateur photographers for the 2027 contest, with up to 10 Alabama-shot photos per person due by Oct. 30 across 10 nature-focused categories.
   

4. Law enforcement, communities unite for inaugural Shelby Coun... (shelbycountyreporter.com) — Pelham residents recently joined law enforcement from across Shelby County to carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope, with a key stop at Pelham City Park. Officers and community members ran together to highlight inclusion and support for Special Olympics Alabama athletes, marking the first coordinated countywide Law Enforcement Torch Run route linking Pelham with neighboring cities.
   

5. Briarwood alum Vizzina named Clemson starting QB (280living.com) — Pelham football fans get a shoutout as Clemson names Briarwood Christian alum Christopher Vizzina its new starting quarterback, with one of his standout prep performances coming in a big game against Pelham. The story tracks his rise from local high school star to leading a top-15 Clemson team into its season-opening road test at LSU.
