2 In Custody After Vehicle Pursuit In East Jefferson County
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports that two men are in custody after they led deputies on a chase Friday.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — Two men are in custody after they reportedly led Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies on a chase Friday. The men were finally apprehended near Roebuck.
Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said they were alerted around noon Friday of a stolen vehicle on the eastern side of Jefferson County. Deputies located the vehicle as it was entering I-59 Northbound in Roebuck.
The driver of the vehicle led deputies on a short chase, then the driver attempted to pass a vehicle near exit 166 and struck a large delivery truck, Money said. Deputies were able to take the driver and an occupant into custody without further incident.

Xavier Wright, 27, and 23-year-old Joshua Thomas were charged with receiving stolen property. Wright was also charged with a host of misdemeanor charges he incurred during the pursuit. He also had two existing outstanding warrants for robbery. Thomas also had two existing outstanding robbery charges and an outstanding failure to appear warrant on theft of property.
Money said no injuries were reported during the pursuit.
