Arrest Made After Police Chase, Crash In Trussville

Charges have been filed against a man who led police on a chase, ending in a crash that injured five people.

TRUSSVILLE, AL — After a police chase ended on Highway 11 in Trussville Monday, police has officially charged a man in connection with the incident. Markeith Damel Henley, 27, was charged Tuesday with assault, reckless endangerment and attempting to elude.

The incident began when police stopped a vehicle just after 10 a.m. Monday on North Chalkville Road. After discovering the driver had warrants, police approached the vehicle and the driver fled the scene, according to Trussville police.

A chase followed, resulting in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 11 near Tutwiler Farms Shopping Center. The driver fled on foot, but not before five people were injured and hospitalized in the crash.

Henley is being held at Jefferson County Jail on $83,700 bond.
