Arrest Made In Springville Road Shooting

Birmingham police have arrested a man in connection with the July 27 death of Dexter Speights.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police have arrested a man in connection with the July 27 shooting death of 31-year-old Dexter Speights. The shooting occurred at the Twin Gates apartment complex on Springville Road.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said Marquele Dion Brownlee, 25, of Birmingham was arrested Friday and charged with murder.

Mauldin said that during the preliminary investigation, police received reports of an argument prior to shots being fired. The suspect fled the scene after the shooting.
