Inappropriate Sexual Contact Indictment For Pinson Valley Teacher

A former Pinson Valley High School teacher has been indicted on multiple charges involving sexual contact with a student.

PINSON, AL - A former teacher at Pinson Valley High School has been indicted on charges of inappropriate sexual contact with a student while he was employed by the school. The official charges against 30-year-old Joseph Allen Farmer are first-degree sex abuse, school employee engaging in sexual contact with a student and first-degree sodomy.

Farmer was arrested in October last year after a female student went to the principal and disclosed that she had been having sexual contact with Farmer. The principal contacted the School Resource Deputy who took the initial report and requested a youth services detective come to the school. The victim reported that the contact began just after the start of the school year and had continued since.

Farmer was questioned by detectives and admitted to an inappropriate sexual relationship with the victim. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)
