Jefferson County Deputy Resigns Amid Sexual Abuse Charges

A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy resigned Friday amid accusations he had an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy resigned Friday amid accusations that he had an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Jacob W. Tillman has been charged with first degree sexual abuse.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the victim stated the behavior had been occurring for an extended period of time.

After an investigation and review with the Jefferson District Attorney’s Office, Tillman was placed in the Jefferson County Jail with a $30,000 Bond. Additional charges are possible, Money said.
