Man Charged After Standoff With Police In Center Point
A 39-year-old man who barricaded himself into his home for six hours has been charged with kidnapping and attempted murder.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man who barricaded himself inside his home in Center Point last week during a 6-hour standoff with law enforcement has been charged with kidnapping and attempted murder. Paul Brian White, 39, is being held on bonds totaling $1.5 million.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of August 20 on Reed Street in Center Point. JCSO reports say the suspect was in the home with his girlfriend, another female, and another male when an argument began over a wrecked truck around 2 a.m.
White reportedly took a hostage and is believed to have fired at least one shot at deputies, which is what led to the two attempted murder charges. No one was injured by gunfire.
