Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Wreck On Highway 79
A wreck Sunday morning on Highway 79 in Jefferson County resulted in one fatality.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning resulted in the death of a 48-year-old Pinson man who law enforcement said swerved off the road just after 4 a.m. The accident occurred on Highway 79 near Rudd School road.
A report from the Jefferson County Sheriff's office said deputies found a pickup truck wrecked into a tree when they arrived at the scene. The truck was occupied by a male driver, later identified as Jody Douglas Sims, who was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The preliminary investigation shows that the truck was the only vehicle involved and that it somehow left the road way and struck the tree, according to Deputy Chief David Agee.
