• All students safe after gunshot heard near Trussville school (cbs42.com) — A gunshot heard near Paine Elementary on Tuesday morning prompted a secure perimeter, but Trussville officials say students were never in danger. Trussville Police quickly detained a person of interest off Gadsden Highway, issued an all-clear, and will maintain extra security at the school for the rest of the day.

• Parker Lybrand takes his HTHS spirit to the University of Alabama (cahabasun.com) — A recent Hewitt-Trussville High School graduate, Parker Lybrand, is heading to the University of Alabama after years of deep involvement in HTHS tennis, theater, choir and academic clubs. He credits Trussville teachers, local arts groups and the Rotary Daybreak Club for shaping his leadership and says he'll miss the family-like spirit of the school community.
