JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — Two unrelated shootings — one fatal — over the weekend in Center Point are under investigation. An arrest has been made in one of the shootings.

Deputy Chief David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said a shooting around 9 p.m. Sunday occurred in the 1600 block of 2nd Street NE. In this instance, the victim, 19-year-old Christian Dewayne Smith, was pronounced dead on the scene, and a man was taken into custody.

Twin brothers Zamir Princeton Jones and Zaden Prince Jones were taken into custody following the shooting, and are being held at Jefferson County Jail.

A dispute Saturday night at a convenience store in the 1100 block of Center Point Parkway led to a shooting that resulted in a victim hospitalized. The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.

"The shooting appeared to have started inside a convenience store between people who knew each other," Agee said. "Sheriff’s investigators are investigating this offense."
