Suspect Arrested In Connection With St. Clair Bomb Threats

A Springville man has been arrested in connection with bomb threats called into schools and county buildings in St. Clair County Tuesday.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, AL - A suspect has been arrested after four schools in St. Clair County and the two county courthouses received bomb threats Tuesday morning. Investigators identified Danny Ray Nichols of Springville as the suspect in the threats. He was arrested on two counts of making a terrorist threat and is being held without bond in the St. Clair County Jail.

In addition to the courthouses in Ashville and Pell City, Tuesday morning Pell City High School, Ashville Elementary School, Ashville Middle School and Ashville High School were placed on lock-down after the threats were called in. At approximately 10:30 a.m., law enforcement issued an "all clear" status for the schools.

The FBI, the State Fire Marshal's Office, the Alabama Fusion Center, and Pell City, Springville and Moody police all assisted in the investigation, which is still ongoing.
