Teen Pedestrian Struck Crossing Center Point Parkway
A 17-year-old was struck by a vehicle on Center Point Parkway Thursday and sustained serious injuries.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A teenager is in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle on Center Point Parkway Thursday. The 17-year-old was walking across the street when he was hit by an off-duty Birmingham Police officer.
Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred at the intersection of Center Point Parkway and 13th Avenue NE around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
"An off-duty Birmingham Police Officer was traveling home on Center Point Parkway in his personal vehicle, when a 17 year old pedestrian, wearing dark colored clothing, ran in front of the officer’s car," Money said. "The officer’s vehicle struck the juvenile, injuring him."

Money said the teen was transported to Children's of Alabama where he is being treated for serious injuries.
