1 Dead After Car Goes Down Ravine In Jefferson County

A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a male victim Sunday morning. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — One person was killed after a car likely went airborne and down a ravine in Jefferson County, the sheriff's office said. The traffic fatality occurred Sunday morning in the 3300 block of Erwin Dairy Road.

Deputy Chief David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said deputies arrived at the location of the wreck and found a vehicle off the roadway and down a ravine. The preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle would have gone airborne at some point to land where it landed.

The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and responding paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene. Agee said the driver's body was transported to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office for examination.
