WASHINGTON, DC — Former Hewitt-Trussville football star Casey Dunn will look for a new team heading into the 2019 NFL season. The former Husky, who played at Jacksonville State before transferring to Auburn to finish out his college career, was waived by the Washington Redskins Thursday.

The Redskins announced Thursday they had released Dunn with an injury designation tag, along with fellow offensive lineman Tyler Catalina.

If Dunn goes unclaimed on the waiver wire, he will revert back to the Washington's injured reserve roster.

Unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft, Dunn signed with the Redskins after trying out at their rookie minicamp in 2018. After making the Redskins initial 53-man roster, Dunn played in two games last season.

The 6-3, 285-pound Dunn was a two-year starter at JSU at center, earning first team all-Ohio Valley Conference honors and receiving first team All-America recognition from Walter Camp, and second team All-America honors from the Associated Press, STATS and the AFCA. Dunn anchored the Gamecock offensive line that paved the way for the top offense and rushing offense in the OVC, rolling up 434 yards per game, 250.6 yards per game on the ground.
