Two Arrested In Murder Of Clay Teenager

Two Hoover teens have been arrested in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Brandon Burpo.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Two Hoover teens have been charged in the murder of Brandon Burpo, 17, of Clay. Burpo was shot in northeastern Jefferson County Sunday. Information at the scene relayed that Burpo knew his killer, and was lured to the shooter's car via phone and then shot. Burpo died at the hospital shortly after the shooting.

Sheriff's detectives reviewed records from Burpo's cell phone and discovered the call luring him out came from one of the accused, 18-year-old Jada Williams. Williams and 18 year old Traquarus Brannon - who has been described as her boyfriend - were taken into custody Monday and when questioned claimed Burpo had recently robbed them. Williams admitted making the call that lured Burpo out to the car. When Burpo arrived at their vehicle Brannon began shooting at him. Williams and Brannon are both students ar Hoover High School.

Both were placed under arrest and taken to the Jefferson County Jail. Williams was charged with murder and Brannon with Capital Murder. Williams posted $60,000 bond and was released pending Court. Brannon remains in Jail under no bond. A third suspect believed involved fled the area and is actively being sought.
