Warrant Issued In Death Of 11-Year-Old Trussville Child
After an 11-year-old boy was shot and killed during a hunting excursion, a manslaughter warrant has been issued against a Mobile man.
TRUSSVILLE, AL — An arrest warrant has been issued in the shooting death of 11-year-old Troy Ellis of Trussville. Troy was killed during a turkey hunting excursion with his father, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred Friday just after 9 a.m. near Cedar Mountain Road.
Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said that during the turkey hunt, 35-year-old Joshua Stewart Burks of Mobile shot and killed Troy and injured Troy's father.
Money said after a review of evidence, investigators determined that a reckless manslaughter warrant against Burks was justified. Burks is expected to turn himself in to the Jefferson County Jail Wednesday.
