Woman Arrested By Trussville PD On Drug, Theft Charges

A woman from Margaret was arrested at the Trussville Walmart and charged with shoplifting and drug offenses.

TRUSSVILLE, AL — A woman accused of shoplifting at the Walmart in Trussville Crossings over the weekend faces charges of drug possession and theft. Mary Angel Tutton, 40, of Margaret was arrested Sunday morning.

Trussville police responded to the Walmart location after employees said Tutton attempted to leave the store with more than $350 of merchandise without paying.

A Trussville Tribune report said police found three pills in her jacket, all controlled substances. She reportedly told police she had a prescription for the medication but that "she didn’t like carrying her prescription medication in bottles because she didn’t want to be a victim of theft."

Tutton was placed under arrest and is facing charges of theft of property fourth degree and possession of a controlled substance.
