Event Details
Join us on April 19, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. for a free papermaking event at the Gorgas House! Learn how to make handmade sheets of paper, while learning the history of papermaking. Guests will be able to take home their own handmade sheet of paper, and people 7+ will also be able to make their own from start to finish! An activity table for younger children will also be provided, with crayons and markers. This event is in collaboration with The University of Alabama Book Arts Program!
Museum Hours
The Gorgas House Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. or by appointment by calling 205-348-5906 or emailing gorgashouse@ua.edu.
Museum Location
The Gorgas House Museum is located at 810 Capstone Drive, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487, just off the Quadrangle of The University of Alabama campus (one block west of the Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library, at the corner of McCorvey and Capstone Drives).
Parking
Parking on Sundays is free in University of Alabama spaces.
