Moundville Archaeological Park invites visitors to join us on June 17, 2026 from 9:15 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. for a special outdoor storytime featuring “We Are Grateful” by Cherokee author Traci Sorell. This seasonal story introduces the Cherokee concept of otsaliheliga—a word expressing gratitude throughout the year.

After the reading by Moundville Archaeological Park’s Erinn Townsend, children will learn about the Eastern Agricultural Complex and the importance of crops like sunflower. Each participant will decorate their own flower pot and plant a sunflower seed to take home and grow.

This program is free with paid park admission.
