While the list is noticeably shorter in terms of the individual number of projects compared to last year, City Engineer Tera Tubbs told Patch that $1.2 million is currently allocated for this round of resurfacing, with two projects — 20th Avenue and 38th Street — both being lengthy endeavors that will be well-received by the residents impacted once the work is finished.

Tubbs also addressed the Council regarding the matter Monday night, providing updates on other major wish list projects that have remained talking points since the city placed new emphasis on widespread resurfacing.
"We'll do an analysis of how much the city needs to spend on paving per year, so that when it's time to resurface ... that it will come in a cycle," she said. "Some of the major roads, like Charlie Shirley Road, Watermelon Road, Rose Boulevard, those are items we are always going to have reach out to our [Metropolitan Planning Organization] to help us fund because they are significant."

She went on to say that MPO funding for resurfacing of Charlie Shirley Road should come in the next couple of months, while supplemental funding for Watermelon Road is expected in December.
What's more, Tubbs said funds to resurface Main Avenue are expected next summer, while Rose Boulevard is on the MPO's list to resurface in 2023.
