Crux Climbing To Officially Open This Weekend In Northport

NORTHPORT, AL — Locals will soon be able to climb to new heights with the addition of a new rock climbing gym on Harper Road in Northport, which aims to open later this month.

"Crux Climbing is excited to open soon in Northport Alabama and offer the Northport and Tuscaloosa area a gym where the climbing and bouldering community can train," co-owner Joseph Scott told Patch. "We will offer day rates and monthly memberships at affordable rates."

Scott co-owns the gym with his son Jackson Scott, who will run the daily operations of the gym.

He then said the business is locally-owned, with his son having attended the University of Alabama and now living in Tuscaloosa. He then said it would be exciting for them to return to offer a new outlet for climbers in the area.

"The gym is a bouldering gym that will offer something for beginner and advanced climbers alike, offering a Bouldering wall and moon board, as well as offering shoe and chalk bag rentals if needed," he said.

Prices range from $8.99 per day, while the monthly cost is $45.10. There will also be discounts for students and military.
